What does this passage mean?

“Education without classes” means making no distinction among categories of people when teaching. Before Confucius, formal education was largely the privilege of the aristocracy. He became the first great private teacher to instruct anyone regardless of status, origin, or wealth. His three thousand disciples came from varied social backgrounds. The principle was a revolutionary democratization of education.

How can we apply it today?

Equal educational opportunity is a central modern value, yet economic inequality continues to produce inequality in learning. Confucius’s principle means more than opening a school door. It affirms that every person with a desire to learn deserves instruction. Mentoring, volunteering expertise, and sharing knowledge allow us to practice education without classes on a small scale.
