Terms of Service

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms define the conditions and procedures for using the "Daily Analects" mobile application provided by the operator, as well as the rights and obligations between the operator and the user.

Article 2 (Services Provided)

The App provides the following services:

• Daily passages from the Analects of Confucius (original text, reading, and Korean translation)
• Chinese character learning features (stroke order, meaning, and pronunciation)
• Deep Reading (historical context, modern interpretation, and reflection questions)
• Bookmarking passages and Chinese character cards
• Archive browsing
• Passage sharing
• Daily notification settings

Article 3 (Use of Services)

• The App is provided free of charge and can be used without account registration.
• A device running iOS 16.0 or later is required to use the App.
• All content in the App is embedded on the device and can be used without an internet connection.

Article 4 (Intellectual Property)

• The original text of the Analects is in the public domain and may be freely used by anyone.
• The Korean translations, commentary, Deep Reading content, design, and software included in the App are copyrighted by the operator.
• Users may use the App's content for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• Images generated through the sharing feature may be freely used for personal social media sharing and similar purposes.

Article 5 (User Obligations)

Users must not engage in the following activities:

• Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or commercial use of the App's content
• Circumventing or disabling the App's technical protection measures
• Decompiling or reverse-engineering the App
• Any other activities that violate applicable laws and regulations

Article 6 (Service Modifications and Discontinuation)

• The operator may add, modify, or remove features of the App to improve the service.
• The operator may suspend all or part of the service if unavoidable circumstances arise.
• Users will be notified in advance of service changes or discontinuation to the extent possible.

Article 7 (Disclaimer)

• The App is provided "as-is" without any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose.
• The interpretations and commentary of the Analects included in the App are for reference only and are not guaranteed to be academically accurate.
• The operator is not responsible for service disruptions caused by device issues or operating system updates.
• Data stored on the device (saved passages, character cards, etc.) will be deleted when the App is uninstalled, and the operator has no obligation to recover such data.

Article 8 (Changes to These Terms)

These Terms may be updated as needed. Any changes will be communicated through app updates or this page. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may stop using the App and uninstall it.

Article 9 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea. In the event of a dispute, the court with jurisdiction over the operator's address shall serve as the court of first instance.
